Instruct-ERIC Course on Calorimetric and Spectroscopic Characterization of Biomolecules

In collaboration with Anamet and Specion we are pleased to invite you to participate in an advanced training course focused on key biophysical techniques for studying biomolecular structure, stability, and interactions.

The aim of this course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practical applications of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC), Circular Dichroism (CD) and Fluorescence Spectroscopy (FS). Through a combination of theoretical lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, attendees will develop experimental competence, strengthen analytical thinking, and gain confidence in data interpretation. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to apply these methods effectively in their own research projects.

The program will include lectures open to a broader audience, while practical sessions will be reserved for registered participants to ensure maximum hands-on experience. Participants will have the opportunity to measure their own samples upon discussion.

The practical part will be carried out on the instruments PEAQ-DSC Automated (Malvern), PEAQ-ITC Automated (Malvern), Chirascan V100 (Applied Photophysics), Fluorolog QM and Duetta (HORIBA).

Upon registration you will be asked to send CV and motivation letter - 16 participants for practicals will be selected according to specific criteria (carrier stage, institutional location, potential for know-how transfer, etc.) . The selected participants will benefit from reimbursement of 200 €/person.

Deadline for registration to the whole workshop is 28th June 2026.

The course will be held at CEITEC Masaryk University, Kamenice 5, 625 00 Brno-Bohunice, Czech Republic
